Residential care

Long term care for people who can no longer manage safely at home but do not need full nursing support. Residents have their own single room and get help with washing, dressing, medication, meals and the ordinary business of the day, with as much independence as they want to keep.

Costs are assessed before admission and usually cover accommodation, laundry, meals, heating and utilities, payable four weekly.

Nursing care

Support for residents living with a long term illness, recovering from one, or needing clinical care that cannot be given at home. A registered nurse is on duty 24 hours a day.

Nurses develop, monitor and review a personal care plan for every resident, working alongside GPs, district nurses and specialists.

Fees depend on the level of nursing required and are agreed after a full assessment.
We are registered for up to 37 residents needing nursing, in 34 single rooms across two floors served by a passenger lift.

Respite care

Short stays, planned in advance or arranged in an emergency, for someone who normally lives at home. It gives family carers a genuine break and gives the person staying a proper look at life here.

Day care

Company, activities, a hot meal and a change of scene during the day, for people who still live independently at home. We can support up to five day care guests at a time.

Guests join the full activities programme. Bath and shower services can be arranged with at least 24 hours notice. Meals cater for specific dietary needs, with help at mealtimes if it is needed.

Palliative care

Calm, dignified support at the end of life, delivered with the district nursing team and the family. We can care for up to six residents under 65 who need palliative support, alongside older residents.

Comfort, pain management and privacy come first, and families are welcome at any hour.

Activities and outings

Two activity coordinators plan a full programme every month. Live music, which draws the biggest crowd of anything we run, bingo, quizzes, board games, art, church services, history and reminiscence talks and armchair exercise.

We attend a local community group and organise regular excursions. Everything is planned with residents rather than at them, and suggestions are always welcome.

Food and nutrition

Three meals a day, including a cooked two course lunch and a lighter option at teatime, prepared by our kitchen team with ingredients sourced locally where possible.

There is a choice at every meal and alternatives on request. We cater for specialist diets and favourite dishes, and the menu is reviewed regularly with the people who eat it. Residents eat wherever they are most comfortable, in the dining room, a lounge or their own room.
