We employ people from all sorts of backgrounds, from carers to kitchen and laundry staff. Experience helps, but it is not always what we are looking for. What matters more is whether you want to look after older people properly, and whether you can do it while helping them keep hold of their independence.<\/p>\n

What it is like to work here<\/h3>\n

Chatsworth is a twenty six bed home, so it is small enough that you get to know everyone who lives here. We do not use agency staff and we do not plan to, because residents deserve to know who is helping them. Turnover is low. A lot of people who work here have been here a long time, including the manager, who started as a domestic more than twenty years ago.<\/p>\n

Everyone trains every year. That covers first aid, food hygiene, health and safety, infection control, dementia, Parkinson\u2019s, stroke, diabetes, equality and diversity, mental capacity, deprivation of liberty, fire, falls, oral hygiene, pressure care, end of life care, medication, safeguarding and advocacy. We add to it whenever a resident\u2019s needs call for something specific. All staff complete an enhanced criminal record check before they start.<\/p>\n
